Station 1 - Birth

The story will begin with birth. To examine our story, we must recognize that we are here because we were born, and the cycle and creation of life must begin with our entrance into the world, as an individual and as a species. The experience and recognition of birth gives not only a shared experience but gives a sense of equality in experiencing the rest of the story.

The frame of a globe is held by a human with plants and animals interwoven in lines of latitude and longitude. Outside of the globe, in the place of the four cardinal directions are the visual representations of four fundamental manifestations of human consciousness that govern our sense of self, our relationship to the other organisms that share the globe, the source of all our behavior and the seed of our potential. The image of a globe with humans, plants and animals sharing the same sphere with innate inclinations surrounding it like the foreshadowing of our history will illustrate both our interconnectedness and the unique characteristics which make humans different than other beings.

Visual metaphors such as the sphere as a cage or a globe, interconnectedness of life on earth, the balance and fragility all speak to the idea of origin.
